The culture of a country is
not just the sights and the people. I think a country is best known through the
food. When dining together you always come into contact with locals, with food
you have always a topic of conversation worldwide. Only those who really tried
the local dishes were also in the country. You have to taste, feel and smell a
country! Each country has its own traditional food that you should definitely
try. And maybe they even taste so good that you can also cook some of the
dishes at home. Today I put together my top 27 dishes from around the world
that you should definitely try.
1. SHEPHERD'S PIE
2. TAPAS
Tapas are the absolute classic from Spain. The name tapas comes from the ancient traditions of the open wine covered with pieces of bread to reach. There are tapas hot or cold and in endless variations. You should definitely try boquerones (anchovies in vinegar), Manchego cheese, Patatas Bravas (potato wedges with spicy sauce), Pimientos de Padrón (roast paprika), dates with bacon and Calamares encebollados. The best tapas ever there are in my opinion in La Taberna de la Boveda in Palma de Mallorca.3.CREMA CATALANA
Crema Catalana is the Spanish dessert classic. Crema catalana is also known as cream (cream crema), because the cream is covered with a thick layer of caramel. Traditionally, this layer is created by sprinkling sugar onto the cream and burning it with a special, heated iron. The cream is similar to French crème brûlée, but is traditionally served in clay bowls. In addition, the cream is flavored with lemon or orange peel.
4. CICCHETTI
Once in Venice, be sure to try Cicchetti, the various little appetizers. You can get it with an ombra, a glass of wine, in every bacari and in every traditional restaurant of the city. Incidentally, Ombra means shade, that is to say, you go for a glass of wine in the shade, one of the most beautiful traditions in Venice.
For example, fried cucumber blossoms, meatballs, fried fish, marinated vegetables and small sandwiches are served as cicchetti.
5. CANTUCCINI AND VIN SANTO
Cantuccini are small Tuscan cakes traditionally served by Vin Santo. Vin Santo is a traditional sweet house wine. Just dip the little Cantucci in the wine and eat it. The perfect light dessert after a sumptuous Tuscan meal.
6. ONION ROAST FRUIT
Onion roast is a classic of Viennese cuisine. Traditionally, the roast is served with crispy onions and roasted potatoes. In no case should be missing the Gurkerlsenf.
7. COOKIES
The dish goulash, called in Hungary Pörkölt. Pörkölt means toasted. Meat and onions must be completely covered with fat when searing and simmer meat and onions with constant stirring until all liquid has disappeared. The caramelized vegetable sugar of the onions gives the goulash, or Pörkölt, its typical taste. Only then will spices and all other ingredients be added.
8. GOATS WITH SPINACH
Gözleme is the Turk's cheeseburger. The thin, hearty stuffed flatbreads from Yufkateig are originally from Anatolia. Today you will find the delicious snack but throughout Turkey.
Just look for a Gözleme shop assistant in Turkish markets, you will not be disappointed.
9. PLAIN IN PIGNA
Plain in Pigna means literally "fully in the oven" and is a Grisons specialty that you can find in all the restaurants in the Swiss Engadine. Served then a kind of potato cake, or potato rösti, with bacon, raw ham and salsiz. Salsiz is an air-dried raw sausage from Grisons. Plain in Pigna is traditionally served with cranberries.

10. PASTEL DE NATA | PASTÉIS DE BELÉM
Flour, sugar, eggs, milk and butter, it's not much more, and yet the lukewarm tarts sprinkled with cinnamon are just indescribably good. Once in Portugal you should definitely taste these.
The best Pastel de Nata still come from the Confeitaria Pastéis de Belém, the cradle of vanilla cakes. After all, the small pudding particles were invented right here, in a small suburb of Lisbon, and they are still made today in the confectionery of Belém.
